7 Reasons why you should listen to Karen Waldrup

Few months ago (I think it was October or November) I was notified by Spotify that Karen Waldrup released a new album “Justified”. I was so excited that I jumped up almost two inches above the ground. I guess it’s her first full album and it consist 11 songs to be precise. She’s talented, got good, soft voice. Here’s the quote I found on Spotify that perfectly describes Karen Waldrup “Every once in a while an artist and songwriter comes along that needs no coaching or advice, the world just needs to hear and see them. That is Karen.” – Bart Heribson, Executive Director, NSAI.

If I overuse the word “beautiful” in the next part of article, beat it or accept me as what I am. I have a weakness for deep, touching lyrics and soft, slow rhythms. Songs like “The Breath You Take” by George Strait, “The Older I Get” by Alan Jackson, “Don’t Laugh At Me” by Mark Wills, “The Greatest (baseball song)” by Kenny Rogers give me chills and I can’t help it. These songs are just tip of the mountain. Country music is full of amazing songs and we country fans know it.

1. Waldrup Wednesdays. On this day Karen is releasing a new video on youtube or new post on Facebook fanpage. I think it’s a great way to get new fans and it shows how much she appreciates fans.

2. Karen Waldrup’s music videos. They are simply marvelous, amazing and beautiful. I remember watching for a first time her Parker Pressley video. I was amazed, hypnotized. I couldn’t look away. While watching her video you can feel passion and honesty that she sings with.

3. “Parker Pressley” - you know almost every country male artist has a song about loving Mary Ann, Betty Lou or Helen (oh wait song about Helen rather funny song than love story but you get my point). This time is other way around women sings about loving Parker Pressley. It’s about loving someone, and waiting till this special someone will love you back.
Phrase of the song: and I hang on to every word cause he’s always got a good story. I’ve had my eyes on him way longer than they should’ve been and finally… Parker Presley says he loves me.

4.”Slow and Easy” – This is the most beautiful song on “Justified” album. It’s about values that are fading away nowadays. To be honest if a girl that I would date would play me this song I would be basically swept off my feet and I would know that she’s worth waiting. The song points out the things you got to do to win someone’s heart. It’s very beautiful song.
Phrase of the song: (If) You’re gonna love me, yeah really love me, make it slow and easy.

5. “What Goes on This Bar (Stays In The Bar)” – You know “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. The song is just illustration of this saying. No matter who we are and where we work, we can be ourselves in this bar.
Phrase of the song: We all get along just fine except we can’t remember much.

6. “Sometimes He Does” – another beautiful and slow song. Not every man is prince charming, right? Not always we do or see all the thing women want us to see but sometimes we do so I guess maybe it’s worth waiting for few moments which take your breath away.
Phrase of the song: If he won’t tell me that I’m beautiful when I’m sitting on the bed tonight in the T-shirt with no makeup on but I stay because sometimes he does. Sometimes he loves me more than I deserve to be loved.

7.”Warm In Your Sunshine” - this song got me a ticket to Karen Waldrup bandwagon. Few months ago I saw a video Karen singing Warm in your sunshine, playing guitar and the sunset on the background. Then I just fell in love.
Phrase of the song: In your arms, lost in your eyes, it’s always warm in your sunshine.
